We are the music ministry of the Body of Christ Catholic Charismatic Prayer Group, St. Francis Cathedral, Metuchen, NJ.  Refuge began as an acoustic folk group leading song and worship during the weekly gathering of this prayer group.  As the years have passed, the Lord has brought new members with new gifts and talents. Through these blessings the ministry has produced three recordings and ministers to the Body of Christ at prayer meetings, conferences, liturgies and other special events in the New Jersey area.

Our music is primarily contemporary worship but we enjoy a wide variety of musical styles appealing to all ages.  Refuge has a complete professional, state-of-the-art, sound reinforcement system it uses at most worship events. It can accommodate sound reinforcement in a large gym or church and has led worship at gatherings of 50 to 3000 worshipers.

We invite you to join us and bring the Body of Christ before the throne of God in majestic praise and worship.  Although our primary service is to the Roman Catholic Church, we look forward to the Lord using us to minister to all Christian faiths.  May you always be "In His Hands"!

MUSICIANS

Rafael Alicea – Rafael is a male vocalist with a very unique voice singing both lead and background.  He also often acts as lead cheerleader for the Lord.  Rafael is married to Lizbeth and they are expecting their first child in October 2005.  He has been a member of Refuge since 2002.

Cindy Beam – Cindy is our keyboard player who likes to hide in the background.  Cindy is married to Lauris and has been a member of Refuge since 2001.

Pete Briant - Pete is our lead electric guitar player.  When you hear those strange, beautiful sounds and wonder where they come from look at Pete's hands.  Pete is married to Judy and is a father of two.

Lenny Cartwright - Lenny is our electric bass player and male vocal. Although Lenny is not known for being a public dancer, he is a big part of our rhythm.  He has been a member of Refuge from its inception.  Lenny is married to Judi; he’s the newlywed of the group.

Frank Czapor - Frank provides a male vocal and is our lead cheerleader. If you ever witness Refuge unplugged, Frank will pull out his Guild acoustic and add his country twang to our sound.

Maryann DiCicco - Maryann provides a female vocal.  If you never heard her yodel, then ask her for a free demo.  Maryann has been a member of Refuge from its inception.  Her late husband, John, was a great lead guitar player and used to join Refuge unplugged.

Mary Anne Kochut -  Mary Anne provides a female vocal and loves to dance with the tambourine in hand.  She has been with Refuge since 2003.

Pete Maszczak - Pete provides a male vocal and acoustic guitar. His motto when it comes to music ministry is "remember who your audience is, the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit". He has been a member of Refuge from its inception.  Pete is married to Carol and is a father of four and grampy of four.

Tom O’Neill – Tom provides the big sound behind the V-Drums.  He has been with Refuge since 2003.  Tom is married to Maria, is a father of two and is brother to Tricia.
 

SUPPORT

Joe DiMeglio - Joe is our sound engineer.  He takes his place at the mixer board at each event and worries about diagnosing our sound problems.  Check him out at the board and you may witness him scratching his head, (it is not fleas, it is problems).  Joe is married to Tricia and is a father of five.  Joe has been a member of Refuge since it went electronic (almost its' inception).

Tricia DiMeglio - Tricia is our Treasurer and an occasional vocalist and acoustic guitar player who can also juggle on request.  Tricia has been a member of Refuge from its inception. Tricia is married to Joe and is a mother of five and also sister to Tom the drummer.

Carol Maszczak – No longer a regular member of Refuge, Carol provides a female vocal with tambourine on special occasions.  You may observe her holding children while worshipping (I wonder whom they belong to??).  She has been a member of Refuge from its inception.  Carol is married to Pete and is the mother of four and grammy of four.

Freddy Velazquez – Freddy is our assistant sound engineer.  He fills the gaps during set-ups and is a second pair of ears and hands for Joe.  Freddy joined Refuge in 2002.

Rita Wondrak - Rita is a  "Female Computer Nerd".  She even has a tee shirt to prove it.  Since she holds this title, Rita qualifies to be our nocturnal webmaster for www.refuge.net
